NSA Directs National Service Personnel to Report to Work Amid CLOGSAG Strike
Ghana’s NSA orders National Service Personnel in CLOGSAG institutions to report to work despite the ongoing strike, stressing they are not union members and must continue performing their duties.
The National Service Authority (NSA) has instructed all National Service Personnel (NSPs) assigned to institutions under the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) to continue reporting to work despite the ongoing strike action by the association.
The strike, which began on March 9, 2026, is a protest over the government’s failure to improve conditions of service for CLOGSAG members.
The National Labour Commission invited both parties to a hearing on March 11, 2026, but CLOGSAG leadership failed to appear. The Commission has rescheduled the hearing for March 18.
In a statement released on Thursday, March 12, 2026, the NSA clarified that National Service Personnel are not participants in the industrial action and are not required to join the strike.
“The National Service Authority wishes to inform all National Service Personnel currently deployed to institutions under CLOGSAG that they are not parties to the ongoing industrial action,” the statement said.
The authority stressed that NSPs are not members of the union and are therefore exempt from the strike.
“All National Service Personnel assigned to institutions under CLOGSAG are required to continue reporting to their respective posts and perform their duties as assigned,” the statement added.
Management urged the personnel to remain dedicated to their national responsibilities and continue supporting the institutions where they have been posted.
“Management encourages all affected NSPs to uphold their national duty and provide services in support of the institutions to which they have been deployed,” the statement concluded, expressing gratitude for their cooperation and contribution to national development.
