Nana Agradaa to Walk Free on March 3 After Sentence Cut
Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, aka Nana Agradaa, will be released on March 3, 2026, after serving two-thirds of her revised 12-month prison term for fraud and charlatanic advertisement.
Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa or Mama Pat, is scheduled for release from prison on 3 March 2026 after serving two-thirds of her revised sentence under Ghana’s standard remission rules.
Agradaa began her custodial term on 3 July 2025 and qualified for remission, which allows eligible inmates to have up to one-third of their sentence reduced for good conduct.
Background: Case and Sentence Review
She was convicted on 3 July 2025 by an Accra Circuit Court on multiple charges, including charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence, linked to her promotion of a money-doubling scheme at her Heaven Way Champion International Ministry in Weija, Greater Accra Region.
During the services, Agradaa allegedly promised miraculous financial returns in exchange for money from congregants, which did not materialise, leading to complaints and subsequent prosecution.
The trial court originally sentenced her to 15 years with hard labour, a decision that generated widespread debate.
On 5 February 2026, the Amasaman High Court upheld her conviction but reduced the sentence to 12 months and imposed a fine of 200 penalty units (approximately GH¢2,400), ruling that the initial punishment was excessive.
Release and Legal Clarifications
Her lawyer, Richard Asare Baffour, confirmed that the upcoming release is in line with standard prison regulations and remission policies, not a special favour, and applies uniformly to inmates who meet the eligibility criteria.
Nana Agradaa’s case has drawn significant public attention due to her profile as a controversial media figure and former traditional priestess turned evangelist.
