A jury has unanimously found former footballer Richard Appiah guilty of murder in connection with the killing of two children in Abesim.

Appiah was accused of murdering his stepbrother and two other children between the ages of 12 and 15.

The case came to light on August 20, 2021, after reports were made to the police. Upon searching his residence, officers discovered the dismembered body of one victim stored in a refrigerator, while two additional bodies were found in separate rooms within the house.

Subsequent investigations led authorities to a cocoa farm in Abesim, where intestines believed to belong to one of the victims were uncovered and later taken for forensic examination.

Police also retrieved two bloodstained machetes from the scene as part of the evidence presented in court.

The verdict brings closure to a case that shocked residents of the Bono Region and drew nationwide attention.
