2025 Private WASSCE results released; WAEC withholds some over malpractice
WAEC has released the 2025 Private WASSCE results for 41,767 candidates, with passes strongest in Social Studies and English, while some results remain withheld over malpractice.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released provisional results for 41,767 candidates who sat the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates – Second Series.
The candidates comprised 20,036 males and 24,501 females, including 16 visually impaired and seven hearing-impaired candidates. A total of 2,422 registered candidates did not sit for the examination.
In a statement signed by Head of Public Affairs John Kapi, WAEC outlined performance in the four core subjects.
Pass rates (A1–C6) stood at 67.43% in English Language, 49.84% in Mathematics, 35% in Integrated Science, and 81.21% in Social Studies. In English, 11.25% scored D7, 10.28% E8 and 11.04% F9. Mathematics recorded 11.05% D7, 11.42% E8 and 27.69% F9. Integrated Science results showed 14.76% D7, 18.24% E8 and 32% F9, while Social Studies recorded 4.64% D7, 3.72% E8 and 10.42% F9.
WAEC withheld the entire results of 348 candidates and subject results of 469 others over alleged examination malpractice, including collusion, impersonation, possession of unauthorized materials and attempts to obtain external assistance. The Council said investigations are ongoing, after which the results may be released or cancelled.
The Council also cautioned the public against scammers who claim they can upgrade results for a fee through mobile money payments. It emphasized that its database is secure and results can be verified through official channels.
Candidates can check their provisional results online via the WAEC website. Those whose results have been withheld are advised to visit the council’s irregularities portal to review the reasons and follow the required procedures.
WAEC expressed appreciation to supervisors, invigilators, examiners and other stakeholders for their roles in the successful conduct of the examination and release of results.
