PIAC Projects Ghana’s Petroleum Revenue to Reach $985m in 2026

Ghana is projected to generate about $985 million in petroleum revenue in 2026, an increase from the $770 million recorded in 2025, according to the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC).

The expected growth is mainly linked to a slight rise in global oil prices, influenced by ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

PIAC Chairman Richard Ellimah disclosed the projections during the launch of the committee’s 2025 Annual Report.

He explained that average prices for key benchmarks including Brent, WTI, and Henry Hub show changing trends over recent years. Brent crude averaged $80.5 per barrel in 2024, fell to $69.04 in 2025, and is forecast to increase to about $78.8 per barrel in 2026.

According to him, the anticipated price rise is largely attributed to tensions in the Middle East, which have pushed petroleum prices upward.

Based on these projections, Ellimah indicated that total petroleum receipts for 2026 are expected to reach approximately $985 million, representing a notable increase from the previous year’s figure.

He cautioned, however, that the estimates remain projections and could change depending on developments in the global oil market.
